A Vicksburg man accused of trying to rob a woman at knifepoint was held without bond today.

Thomas Dearman, 18, 111 Nicholas St., was arrested in the second level of the garage at Relax Inn, 1313 Walnut St., at 3:27 this morning, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

Dearman is accused of pulling a knife and demanding money from a woman near Clay and Walnut, Stewart said. Dearman fled without taking anything after a vehicle stopped to ask the woman if she was in trouble, Stewart said.

The woman told police she was walking on Clay Street to give her eyeglasses to her son, Stewart said.

Dearman was held at police headquarters this morning without bail. He is also being held for drug court, Stewart said.

In January 2011, Dearman pleaded guilty to burglary of a vehicle and burglary of a dwelling and was sentenced to the Ninth Circuit Court Drug Court program for a period not to exceed five years.
