BRANDON — Dolly E. Gillis died Friday, May 11, 2012, at Brandon Nursing and Rehab. She was 77.

Ms. Gillis had lived in Vicksburg most of her life, retiring from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Personnel Office in 1995.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Reese and Verna Estelle Robinson Evans; four brothers, James R. Evans Jr., Jesse W. Evans, Robert F. Evans, and Melvin V. Evans; and one sister, Madge E. Gillis.

Survivors include two sons, James A. Gillis of Hickory and John A. Gillis of Miami; two daughters, Teri Lee Hatcher of Buies Creek, N.C., and Vicky G. Hughes of Florence; three brothers, Lee Evans of Vicksburg, Sidney Evans of Baton Rouge and Jimmy L. Evans of Newellton; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 today at Chancellor’s Funeral Home in Florence with T.J. Paul officiating. Visitation will be today from 1 until the service.
