Dorothy Coggin Shamburger, 82, died at her home on Tuesday, May 15, 2012.

A native of Meridian, Mrs. Shamburger had lived in Vicksburg for over 60 years. She attended Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C. She was a graduate of Mississippi College and received a Master of Education degree from Mississippi State University. She was a librarian for the Vicksburg Public Schools prior to her retirement. Mrs. Shamburger was a member of the Green Hills Garden Club. She was a life member of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; and siblings, James G. Coggin and Robert L. Coggin.

She is survived by four daughters, Marie Mitchell (Monty) of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Carol Horn of Vicksburg, Brenda Jackson (Charles) of Starkville, and Lisa Mayne (Bob) of Lake Orion, Mich.; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Jordon (Jason), Will Jackson, Leigh Anne Terry (Zac), Leslie Vollor (Will), Claire Addison (Michael), Carol Jackson, Melissa Mitchell, David Mayne and Sarah Mayne; and three great-grandchildren, Reed Jordon, Eliza Pearl Terry and Anne Larkin Vollor.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at The Church of the Holy Trinity, Episcopal, under the direction of Riles Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Friday in McInnis Hall at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Church of the Holy Trinity, Episcopal.
