Jimmy Ree Gibbs

Services for Jimmy Ree Gibbs will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holly Grove M.B. Church, 746 Johnson St., with the Rev. Johnny Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.

Mr. Gibbs died Sunday, May 13, 2012, at his home. He was 65.

Mr. Gibbs was a member and deacon at Holly Grove M.B. Church. He was a 1965 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School and attended Jackson State University. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the Marines.

He retired from the Vicksburg Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Sr. and Willie Mae Kent Gibbs; his grandparents, Georgia Caldwell Kent Myles, Clifton Myles, Willie Kent and Addie Gibbs; a brother, Nathaniel Gibbs; and a sister, Pamela Gibbs.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Gibbs; two sons, Sean Gibbs and Stefan Gibbs; one stepson, Seychan Lewis; three brothers, Al Gibbs of Arlington, Texas, Larry Gibbs of Anna, Texas, and Alfred Gibbs of McKinney, Texas; three sisters, Brenda Gibbs Williams of Vicksburg, Georgia Gibbs Marshall of McKinney and Malinda Gibbs Campbell of Humble, Texas; and nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives, including Anderson White Sr. of Vicksburg and members of the Gibbs, Caldwell, Kent, White, Williams, Landers and Moran families.
