Cornelius and Shirley Mallory of Vicksburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Detra La’Quel, to Benjamin Terrell Humphries Sr. Mr. Humphries is the son of the late Ben Humphries and the late Shirley Naylor of Vicksburg.

Miss Mallory is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mallory Jr. of Port Gibson and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sayles Sr.

Mr. Humphries is the grandson of the late Lillian Naylor and the late Eugene and Mary Humphries of Vicksburg.

The bride-elect is a 1997 graduate of Vicksburg High School. She received an associate degree in nursing from Meridian Community College and a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing.

Miss Mallory is a patient placement nurse at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The prospective groom is a 1997 graduate of Vicksburg High School, where he participated in Chamber of Commerce Junior Leadership and was a member of FCA and the track team. He was a 3-year varsity football letterman and was named All-County and All-District.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Mississippi Valley State University, where he was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and received the Phi Beta Sigma Honors Award.

Mr. Humphries is a juvenile probation officer/counselor for the State of Mississippi.

The wedding will be at 4 p.m. July 28, 2012, at Rainbow Arena. A reception will follow. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.
