A Vicksburg woman was taken to the hospital Friday afternoon after she lost consciousness while driving in the northbound lane of U.S. 61 South, hitting another vehicle, two traffic signs and swerving off the road into trees, Vicksburg police investigator Bobby Jones said.
Mary Hatchett, 60, 587 Hall Road, was driving her Ford Expedition when she lost consciousness because of a medical condition and hit a Toyota Sequoia driven by William Fleeman, 61, with Sarah Fleeman, 60, both of Cary, Miss., at the intersection of U.S. 61 South and Pemberton Square Boulevard, Jones said. Hatchett was taken to River Region Medical Center where she was treated and released.
