A Habitat for Humanity house will be moved from East Avenue about two miles to Fayette Street Wednesday morning, probably slowing traffic along the way, a Habitat spokesman said today.
Habitat Executive Director Abraham Green said the house was donated by Mount Calvary Baptist Church and will be moved from 1348 East Ave. to 1416 Fayette. The move, to be handled by Van Norman House Movers of Brookhaven, is expected to begin after 9 a.m. and be completed in the early afternoon.
The 22-foot-wide home will be driven north on Cherry to Jackson Street to Martin Luther King Boulevard to Poplar Street and on to Fayette, Green said.
Once in place, the home will be refurbished for a needy family, Green said.
The family has not been chosen.
