7 convicted in Warren, one in Sharkey counties

In Warren County Circuit Court for the week ending Friday:

• Steven Lee Jackson, 35, 105 Openwood St., pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary of a dwelling and was sentenced by Circuit Judge Isadore Patrick to five years in prison followed by two years’ probation, fines of $1,500, $650 restitution and $645 in costs.

• Justin Daniel Kirkley, 21, pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling and was sentenced by Circuit Judge M. James Chaney to five years’ probation, a $5,000 fine and $322.50 in costs. Kirkley was indicted in January.

• James Ransom, 20, 515 Adams St., pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced by Patrick to five years in prison and $322.50 in costs.

• Chauncy Rankin, 22, 2991 North Washington St., pleaded guilty to sale of cocaine before Chaney and was found guilty of violating probation for two counts of possession of a controlled substance by Patrick and was sentenced to a combined eight years in prison, eight years’ probation, a $2,000 fine and $645 in costs.

• Lash Rogers, 33, 2405 Railroad Ave., was found guilty of violating probation from an August 2008 conviction for simple assault of an officer, felony eluding and possession of cocaine and was sentenced by Chaney to 10 years in prison and $5,712.50 in fines and fees. Rogers was indicted in February 2008.

• Jamal Dishon Smith, 22, 2918 Green St., was found guilty of violating probation for a November 2010 conviction for third offense domestic violence and was sentenced by Chaney five in prison. Smith was indicted in July 2010.

• Deshawn Stewart, 20, 108 Freedom Lane, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced by Chaney to five years’ probation, a $2,000 fine and $797.50 in costs. Stewart pleaded guilty to a criminal information dated May 24.

In Sharkey County for the week ending Friday:

• Joe Warfield, 58, 96 Beal St., Rolling Fork, pleaded guilty to possession of a weapon after felony conviction and was sentenced by Patrick to 21 days in prison followed by five years’ probation, a fine of $2,000 and $322.50 in costs. Warfield was indicted in April.
