James East Sr.

Services for James “E-40” East Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Vicksburg City Auditorium with the Rev. John Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with the family present from 5 until 6.

Mr. East died Friday, June 1, 2012, as the result of a boating accident. He was 39.

Mr. East was employed by his father and was a self-employed mechanic, landscaper and DJ. He was an honorary member of the Mississippi Cruisers Club and St. Alban Hunting and Rifle Camp.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anner E. Stelivan; his father, Jimmy Evans; and his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Nancy A. Stelivan.

Survivors include four daughters, Stevette Stephson of Houston, Texas, Semaj East of St. Joe’s, Calif., and Janiya Warfield and Jakiya Warfield, both of Vicksburg; four sons, James D. East Jr. of Tallulah and Devontae East, James Warfield and Antwan Grissom, all of Vicksburg; five sisters, Nancy Powers, Viola Stewart, Gertrude Brown and Alberta East Crockett, all of Vicksburg, and Ledora East of Tampa; two brothers, Arnold East of Tallahassee, Fla., and Rufus Gibson of Detroit; a grandmother, Ida Mae Evans of Vicksburg; his stepfather, Billy East; two granddaughters of Houston; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, including Travis and Joyce Vance, the Anderson, Anthony, Brown, Coleman, Davis, East, Gibson, Evans, Harris, Hawkins, Lacey, Sanders, Stelivan and Wince families.
