A Vicksburg woman accused of hitting her mother was held without bail today.

Robin Saxon, 23, 7093 U.S. 61 South, Lot 2, was arrested and charged with third offense domestic violence at 7:07 p.m. Friday, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

Saxon is accused of striking her mother after an argument in the 3300 block of U.S. 61 South, Stewart said.

Saxon was held without bail pending her initial court appearance.

Driver arrested in stolen truck

A Vicksburg man caught driving a stolen truck was held without bail today, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

Tony Thomas, 23, 1205 Jefferson St., was arrested following a traffic stop at First North and Grove streets and charged with receiving stolen property at 8:54 a.m. Saturday, Stewart said.

At the time of his arrest, Thomas was driving a 2009 GMC Sierra reported stolen at 7:53 a.m. Saturday near Locust and Jefferson, Stewart said. Thomas told police he had gotten the truck for someone else, Stewart said.

Thomas was held without bail pending his initial court appearance. Thomas also was held for the Mississippi Department of corrections on a probation violation, Stewart said.

City woman jailed for shoplifting

A Vicksburg woman accused of shoplifting was held without bail today.

Stacey Reynolds, 35, 913 China St., was arrested and charged at 4:53 p.m. Friday at Fred’s Super Dollar, 3427 Halls Ferry Road, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

Reynolds is accused of leaving the store without paying for an unknown amount of merchandise, Stewart said.

She was held without bail pending her initial court appearance. Reynolds is also being held on a warrant for probation violation from the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a prior felony shoplifting conviction, Stewart said.

City man accused of stealing from friend

A Vicksbug man accused of stealing cash from a friend’s purse was held without bail today.

John Taylor Burton, 20, 3700 Gowall Road, was arrested at 5:03 p.m. Saturday and charged with grand larceny, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

Burton is accused of stealing $1,100 from the purse of a friend who gave him a ride to a gas station earlier in the day, Stewart said.

Seneca cigarettes popular in break-in

A burglar who stole more than $1,500 worth of Seneca cigarettes over the weekend was on the lam today.

At 3:18 a.m. Saturday, a Vicksburg police officer on patrol noticed the window of Doc’s Tobacco Outlet, 989 U.S. 61 North, had been broken, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

Missing from the store were 15 cartons of menthol lights, two cartons of full flavor, 15 cartons of ultralight 100s, 15 cartons of ultralight king, eight cartons of full flavor 100s and five cartons of full flavor king, Stewart said. The cigarettes, were Seneca brand, have a combined value of $1,799.40, Stewart said.

TVs, cash missing in city burglaries

Televisions and cash were missing this morning following three burglaries in the city.

At 10:36 a.m. Friday, a 32-inch Vizio TV valued at $300 and a Philips DVD player valued at $50 were reported stolen from a home in the 2100 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

At 1:37 p.m. Saturday, a Nintendo Wii game console valued at $400, a 42-inch RCA TV valued at $600 and a 19-inch Emerson TV valued at $200, were reported stolen in the 200 block of Demby Drive, Stewart said.

At 1:50 a.m. today a wallet and $441 were reported missing from a home in the 2700 block of Alcorn Drive, Stewart said.
