Rain seen drying up Wednesday

Rains that peppered the area Monday night into this morning were forecast to continue into tonight before dissipating by Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service reported.
Rain chances for Wednesday were forecast to be about 40 percent with rain chances diminishing throughout the rest of the week. Temperatures were forecast to rise into the upper 80s throughout the week, reaching the low 90s by early next week. Overcast skies will dominate through the end of the work week.
High winds that knocked down power lines and trees early this morning were forecast to die down as well, with top wind forecast to reach 10 mph over the next five days.
As of 8 this morning, nearly 1/2 inch of rain had fallen in Vicksburg, according to wunderground.com, an Internet weather service.
