James M. Boyd II

James M. “Jimmy” Boyd II died Monday, June 11, 2012. He was 52.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Boyd was a 1978 graduate of Warren Central High School. He graduated from the University of Mississippi, receiving an accounting degree in 1983.

At the time of his death, he owned and operated Boyd’s Accounting Service and Deep South Tailgating LLC. He was a member of the Mississippi Association of Public Accountants, the Central Chapter of MAPA, the National Association of Public Accountants, the University of Mississippi Alumni Association and the Salvation Army Board of Directors.

Mr. Boyd was a member of Highland Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and church treasurer.

He is survived by a daughter, Hayley Boyd McDaniel (Preston) of Newark, Del.; a son, Matthew Boyd of Vicksburg; his mother, Bettie S. Boyd of Vicksburg; one sister, Cheryl Van Norman (Tony) of Vicksburg; one brother, Forrest Boyd of Plano, Texas; his fiancé, Diane Emfinger of Vicksburg; and three nephews, John Van Norman, Dustin Boyd and Josh Boyd.

He was preceded in death by his father, James M. Boyd.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, at Highland Baptist Church, 3518 Halls Ferry Road in Vicksburg, with the Rev. Brian Ivey, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church from 5 until 7 tonight and Friday from 10 a.m. until the service.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Harper, Alex Waddell, Mackey McKissack, Jeff McBroom, Perry Smith, Jerry Beard and Tom Delasko.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Highland Baptist Church.
