A bail bonding company implicated in an investigation into misconduct by two members of the Vicksburg Police Department has had its bonding privileges “permanently suspended” by the Vicksburg Police Department, Chief Walter Armstrong said Friday.

The company, which Armstrong declined to name, was identified in the investigation that resulted in the resignations of the two officers, L’Jamarro Peters and Shawn White, on June 3.

Peters and White were suspected of making “improper referrals” to the bonding company, Armstrong said in a statement issued late Friday afternoon.

“We won’t release the name of that company for now because there are still some aspects we are looking into,” he said in a separate interview.

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen accepted the officers’ resignations, without naming them publicly, in a closed session June 4, but cited an ongoing investigation in declining to release the names, which were acquired after a Freedom of Information Act request.
