NATCHEZ — Marion Francis “Slick” Marshall III died Monday, June 25, 2012, at Promise Hospital in Vidalia. He was 86.

Mr. Marshall was born in Vicksburg to Marion Francis Jr. and Bessie Jackson Marshall. He was of the Methodist faith and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. He retired from International Paper Co. in Natchez.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lela Marsh Marshall; and a sister, Frances Helen Marshall.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Christopher of Natchez, Vivian Deutschman of Liverpool, N.Y., and Madeleine Felps of Baton Rouge; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Thursday at Laird Funeral Home with Matthew Poole officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
