Nancy Williamson Smith

Nancy “Nan” Williamson Smith joined her Creator and Lord in Heaven on June 23, 2012, after a short battle with cancer. She was 82 years old.

She was born in Natchez in 1930. She graduated from Natchez High School and completed her nurse’s training.

She married Hubert Ray Smith in 1948. They had three children: Jim Smith (deceased), Lonnie Smith (Sidna) and Holly Smith (Jimmy Pawlik). She is survived by her grandchildren, Lea Smith Rigby (Van), Scott Smith, Ashley Frantz (Steven) and Chris Smith (Shannon); and her great-grandchildren, Jordan Reuter, Van Rigby IV, Megan Rigby and Pheonix Smith.

At the time of her death, she resided in the Rio Grande Valley in Pharr, Texas, and attended St. Mark’s UMC.

A celebration in honor of her life will be at 10 a.m. this Saturday at Riles Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Porters Chapel UMC Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5 until 7 at Riles Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, she would like for donations to be made to St. Mark’s UMC, 301 W. Pecan, McAllen, TX 78501 or to Comfort House, 617 Dallas, McAllen, TX 78501 where she spent her last days.
