Recycling warranted

Why does Vicksburg not have a recycling program and drop-site for all recyclable items?

I recently called the Warren County Recycling Center and was told they do not accept paper, only metals. I live in the county and called Waste Management to inquire about this and was told the nearest drop-site is in Jackson. They were kind enough to tell me to bundle the papers and leave them with our trash and they would “try to remind the men to put them aside for recycling.”

I’m almost positive that didn’t happen. I feel the city and county should create a drop-site that can be utilized by everyone. I realize there are costs and many other factors involved in doing this, but shouldn’t we, as a city and county, be doing our part to preserve and protect the environment for future generations?

Some of the larger stores here do accept their plastic bags back for recycling.

If nothing else, maybe The Vicksburg Post could accept our old newspapers back for recycling? If there is a recycling solution I’m not aware of, please publish the information.
