A Warren County man was killed Sunday night when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree in Yazoo County.
Edward Morrell Redditt, 56, 400 Rawhide Road, was driving a Ford F-150 about 9 p.m. on Phoenix Road with his nephew Shane Redditt and a friend John Harold Rainey when he missed a curve at Holloman Road, said sister-in-law Linda Redditt, Shane Redditt’s mother.
“He hit it too fast. He couldn’t control it,” she said.
Morrell Redditt was ejected from the truck, which flipped on its roof and hit a tree, and died at the crash site of massive head trauma, Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said.
The wreck was just north of the Warren County line.
Redditt was the only person in the vehicle not wearing a seat belt, Shivers said.
An official report on the crash was not available this morning from Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department.
Shane Redditt suffered a gash to the back of the head, but refused medical attention, his mother said, and Rainey was taken to University Medical Center in Jackson where he underwent neck and back surgery this morning.
Rainey was in fair condition this morning, a UMC spokesman said.
Morrell Redditt was not married, but had two grown children, Edward Herring and Angie Herring, Linda Redditt said. He had worked as a construction worker before he became disabled, Linda Redditt said.
“He would do anything for anybody,” she said.
Funeral services for Morrell Redditt were pending this morning with Glenwood Funeral Home in charge.
