Carrie Mae Johnson Carson

Carrie Mae Johnson Carson died Tuesday, July 3, 2012, at River Region Medical Center. She was 62.
A 1969 graduate of Temple High School, Mrs. Carson received a Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood education from Tougaloo College. She also studied at Alcorn State University and Jackson State University.
She retired from Mississippi Action for Progress after 32 years as a preschool teacher and had worked at Kings Head Start of Warren County. She attended St. Paul M.B. Church in Utica for more than 45 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos Johnson Sr. and Julia Neal Johnson; and two sisters, Pearline Hollins and Ollie Johnson.
She is survived by three daughters, Tresha Johnson Harris and Pamela Johnson Martin, both of Vicksburg, and Tracy Johnson Hoggatt of Conyers, Ga.; five sisters, Wilena Cole of Jackson, Mary Burns Gray of Vicksburg, Hattie Haley of Houston, Texas, Geneva Trahan of Lancaster, Calif., and Julia Fisher of New Orleans; two brothers, Amos Johnson Jr. of New Orleans and Simmie Johnson of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including Paula Clark of Vicksburg and members of the Gibson, Neal, Benard, Taylor, Smith and Turner families.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Greater Grove Street M.B. Church with Dr. Casey Fisher officiating. Burial will be at Second Union Cemetery in Utica. Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Friday at Lake-view Memorial Funeral Home with family present from 5 until 6.
