SHARPSBURG, Ga. — The Rev. Robert “Bob” Fitler died Saturday, June 30, 2012, in Sharpsburg, Ga. He was 80.

Rev. Fitler was born in Greenville on July 13, 1931. He retired as a minister of the Presbyterian Church of America after 44 years of service. He pastored churches in South Carolina, Georgia and Mississippi, including Westminster Presbyterian of Vicksburg in 1958, and served on a mission in Brazil.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vicksburg native Frances Allein Fitler; a son, Douglas Fitler of Michigan; a daughter, Susan Godfrey of Georgia; and nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City, Ga. Interment will be in Vicksburg.
