Joseph A. “Bubba” Gerache Jr., 60, died on Monday, July 9, 2012, surrounded by his loving family at River Region Medical Center.

“Bubba,” as he was known by many, was a loyal and longtime member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church serving on the vestry for the past three years. Faith, church and family were the cornerstones of his life. Bubba was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg and was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School, Class of 1969. He was a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University and the NLU School of Pharmacy.

As owner of The Corner Drug Store, “Dr. Bubba,” as he was known by his customers, developed strong friendships with his patrons and the community that will be everlasting. “Dr. Bubba” and his family will always be appreciative for the support and loyalty of their patrons over the years.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Linda Graham Gerache; two daughters, Candace Salsbury (David) and Jenni Sciro (Jay); a son, Joey Gerache (fiancée Anna Fumbanks); grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Austin, Haley and Holly Salsbury and Caroline Sciro; father, Joseph A. Gerache (Ann); two sisters, Janice Waring (Dan) and Cookie Beasley; two brothers, Johnny Gerache (Ginger) and Tommy Gerache (Whitney); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joanne Ryan Gerache.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church with the Very Rev. Billie Abraham, rector of St. Alban’s, and the Rev. Denny Allman, Monsignor Patrick Farrell and the Rev. Deacon Josie Williams officiating. Interment will be at St. Alban’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Riles Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jay Sciro, David Salsbury, Joshua Gerache, Jonathan Gerache, James Gerache, Jeremy Beasley, Dan Waring and Charles Tarver.

The Gerache family would like to thank all who cared for Bubba, especially Dr. Robert Ford, Mrs. Jessie Kolb Pennington and Deborah Smith.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Bubba’s name to St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 921, Vicksburg, MS 39181.
