Gladys Minerva Freeman Nash

DELHI, La. — Gladys Minerva Freeman Nash transitioned from this life on Sunday, July 8, 2012. She died quietly in her sleep after a lengthy illness. She was 90.

Mrs. Nash was a retired educator, having taught high school English for over 30 years in the Richland Parish School system. Her determination to not just teach English, but to give students a thirst for learning, has encouraged many of her students to excel in their lives and professions. Many have acknowledged that inspiration in helping them to achieve goals in their lives. She was married to the late Herbert Nash of Delhi, La. She attended St. Theresa Catholic Church of Delhi.

Mrs. Nash departed this life on Sunday, July 8, 2012, peacefully in her sleep to join her Savior.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; her parents, Fred and Alma Freeman; a sister, Alicia; a son, Herbert Jr.; a daughter, Marilyn; and a granddaughter Chiara (Kay-Kay).

Left to cherish her life are her two sisters, Mary Thornton of Herndon, Va., and Vera Melton of New Orleans; two sons, Dwayne Daniel Nash of Delhi and Dr. Kenneth D. Nash (Coleen) of Vicksburg; four grandchildren, David (Monica), Jonathan (Jessica), Justin and Ashley; two great-grandchildren, Davian and Jurnee; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and the entire community of Delhi and Richland Parish, La.

Arrangements include visitation for family and close friends at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 705 Main St. in Delhi, on Friday, July 13, 2012, from 5 until 6:15 p.m., followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 6:30 p.m. Father Philip Pazhayakari and Father Malcolm O’Leary of St. Marys Catholic Church, Vicksburg, will officiate. On Saturday, July 14, a community-wide memorial service will be held at Delhi High School auditorium, 413 Main St. in Delhi, beginning with visitation at 8:30 a.m. and the program starting at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Cloud Creek Cemetery.
