Additional arrest made in fake checks case

A fifth man accused of passing fake checks was held without bail today, and police tacked on additional charges for four already behind bars.
Donny Barnett, 21, 709 New Orleans Ave., was arrested at 4:51 p.m. Thursday and charged with false pretense and conspiracy to commit crime, police Capt. Bobby Stewart said.
Barnett is accused of attempting to cash a fake check for $4,200 at Mutual Credit Union, 4286 S. Frontage Road, Stewart said.
Additional charges of conspiracy to commit a crime were added for Petrina Doyle, 33, 1312 Spring St.; Pierre Hagen, 21, 344 Province Town Drive, Country Club, Ill.; Amanda Doyle, 24, 2930 E. Main St.; and Troy Bunville, 20, 2310 E. Main St., Stewart said.
The four were arrested Wednesday after attempting to pass two fake checks at Mutual Credit Union locations, Stewart said.
All five were held this morning in the Issaquena County Jail without bail, Stewart said.
