Ray and Nancy Melancon of Vicksburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Emily Elizabeth, to Dan Edward Muirhead III. Mr. Muirhead is the son of Dan Edward II and Shanna Muirhead of Vicksburg.

Miss Melancon is the granddaughter of Luke and Phyllis Mobley and Albert and Merle Melancon, all of Vicksburg.

Mr. Muirhead is the grandson of Jack and Estelle Jordan, Robert and Darlene Roberts and the late Dan Edward Muirhead Sr., all of Vicksburg.

The bride-elect graduated in 2005 from Vicksburg High School, where she was a member of the Prom Committee, Band, Color Guard, German Club and Habitat For Humanity.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration in 2009 with an emphasis in marketing from the University of Southern Mississippi, where she served as vice president of membership, vice president of member development, transition officer, leadership nominating chair and composite chair for Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was a member of the USM Union Advisory Board, Baptist Student Union and Intramural Sports. She served as an Eagle Ambassador/secretary for USM football recruiting and as events planner for the Pi Beta Phi Hattiesburg Alumni Committee.

She received a master’s degree in 2010 in adult education from USM.

Miss Melancon is employed in marketing, design and sales at The Ivy Place and is a member of the Metro Jackson Pi Beta Phi Alumni Club.

The prospective groom is a 2005 graduate of St. Aloysius High School, where he was a member of the football and baseball teams, Key Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

He attended Hinds Community College and Holy Cross, where he played intramural football.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration in 2008 from the University of Mississippi, where he played intramural softball and was a member of the Baptist Student Union.

Mr. Muirhead is an associate agent for The Muirhead Agency and is a member and past officer of the Vicksburg Kiwanis Club.

The wedding will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 22, 2012, at The Baer House. A reception will follow.
