James W. Carr

PORT GIBSON — James W. “Buddy” Carr died Sunday, July 22, 2012, at River Region Medical Center. He was 94.

Mr. Carr was a member of Watson Chapel Church where he was a steward, superintendent of Sunday school and chairman pro tem of the Trustee Board. He was a veteran of the Army, having served in World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Odessa M. Carr of Port Gibson; a son, Michael Carr of Brookhaven; a brother, John Carr of Columbus, Ohio; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, including Dr. Malvin Williams.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at China Grove Church in Russum with the Rev. Belina Gray officiating. Burial will follow at McCay Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 1 until 6 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home and Sunday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
