Werkin, Ross are wed in Flowood

Jacob Andrew Werkin and Katie Jane Ross were married at 7 p.m. June 9, 2012, at Lakeland Presbyterian Church in Flowood. Tim Wheat officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Mickey and James Ross of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Betty Matthews and the late George Matthews of Vicksburg and Bobbie Ross and the late Edwin Ross of Eupora.

The groom is the son of Andrea and Tim Werkin of Sandersville, Ga. He is the grandson of Bob and Diane Werkin of Toronto, Ohio, and Barbara Jean Holmes of Sandersville and the late Dr. Dean Holmes of Milledgeville, Ga.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride’s chosen colors were black and white. Music for the ceremony was presented by Austin Crabtree, Drew Garner and Lee Anna Woodcock.

Maid of honor was Lee Anna Woodcock of New York, N.Y. Matron of honor was Kristen Barnes of Flowood. Bridesmaids were Ashley Ainsworth and Lindsay Ward, both of Hattiesburg, and Ali Blackledge of Laurel. Junior bridesmaids were Chloe Smith of Vicksburg and Caroline Frederick of Fort Worth, Texas.

Wes Smith of Durham, N.C., served as best man. Groomsmen were Adam Johnston of Savannah, Ga.; Ryan Bishop of Marietta, Ga.; Michael Sims of Columbus, Ga.; and Drew Garner of Florida. Junior groomsman was Colby Smith of Vicksburg. Ring bearer was Sam Dorris of Hernando.

A reception followed at the Jackson Yacht Club. For a wedding trip, the couple traveled to Jackson Hole, Wyo. They will make their home in Columbus, Ga.

Engagement party

The bride’s family honored the couple with a New Year’s Eve engagement party.

Tea

Karen Smith, Melissa West, Kay Garner and Anne Smith hosted a bridal tea.

Showers

Francis Warren, Lynn Baker and Pam Wilbanks hosted a Christmas shower.

Pat Lummus, Tena Matthews and Gail Matthews honored the bride with a miscellaneous shower.

The bride was honored with a shower hosted by the ladies of Highland Baptist Church.
