A father and son accused of aggravated assault were held without bail today.

Walter Bliss Sr., 67, 5391 Mount Alban Road, and Walter Bliss Jr., 29, 5447 Mount Alban Road, surrendered to police at 10:57 a.m. Monday, Capt. Bobby Stewart said.

The father and son are accused of beating a man May 14 in the 100 block of Starlight Drive, Stewart said. The beating victim, who had been in an altercation with the elder Bliss’ daughter, fled, so the assault was not immediately reported, Stewart said.

The victim suffered head injuries and was taken to University Medical Center, where he was treated and released, Stewart said.

The father and son were held in the Issaquena County Jail awaiting their initial court appearance.
