WC finishes second at Mid-Mississippi Classic

The Warren Central volleyball team showed some promise in the season-opening Mid-Mississippi Classic tournament on Saturday at Ridgeland, going 2-2, and finishing second.

The Lady Vikes lost their opener to Corinth (25-14, 25-17) before beating Germantown (25-12, 25-14) and Pearl (25-20, 25-11). They played Germantown again, losing the first game 25-21 and forcing a tiebreaker with a 25-23 victory in the second. Germantown took the title with a 15-10 victory in the extra set.

Shae Bracey had a strong tourney, with 24 attacks and 15 kills. Senior Taylor Willis added 15 attacks and 10 kills.

Sharenna Smith had 53 serves with nine aces and 36 points. Defensively, Brooke Kistler led the Lady Vikes (2-2) with 26 service receptions, six blocks and eight digs.
