Rain stopped Sunday’s game at AT&T Field in the seventh inning, but not before the Chattanooga Lookouts escaped with a 6-4 victory over the Mississippi Braves.
The M-Braves were trailing 5-4 after they scored a run on Joe Leonard’s RBI groundout in the top of the seventh, but the rain came and the game was stopped in the middle of the frame. The two teams resumed and Chattanooga added another run, but the rain returned and the game was called 30 minutes later.
It was a back-and-forth contest from the outset. With two outs in the first inning, Tim Smith doubled off Lookouts’ starter Allen Webster and came in to score a batter later on Phil Gosselin’s single.
