A Vicksburg man accused of burglary surrendered to Sheriff Martin Pace after the sheriff’s office publicly asked for help to solve the case.
Wesley Evans, 35, 2006 Pearl St., surrendered after calling the sheriff’s department about 6 p.m. Wednesday, Pace said.
“He drove himself here and surrendered on the steps of the sheriff’s office,” Pace said.
Evans is accused of stealing an array of items on July 26 from a home in the 3500 block of Oak Street, Pace said. Though the residence is in the city, the sheriff’s department received a request to investigate the burglary, Pace said.
A microwave, televisions, antique coins, lamps and other stolen items were found by deputies July 28 at Evans’ home and under a neighboring vacant house, but some items were still missing today, Pace said.
Evans was in the Warren County Jail this morning awaiting his initial court appearance.
More arrests related to the burglary are expected, Pace said.
