UTICA — Katie Mae Smith died Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, in Torrance, Calif. She was 86.

Mrs. Smith was born May 10, 1926, to Ed and Rosie Dixon Davis. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Strawbridge M.B. Church, where she served in the choir and on the usher board and mother board. She was a member of the Women’s Community Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers.

She is survived by her husband, John Henry Smith; three sons, John Smith Jr. of Chicago, Althan Smith of Rayville, La., and Perry Smith of Delhi, La.; five daughters, Annie Smith of Chicago, Lee Destra Smith of Indianapolis, Daisy Smith of Gardena, Calif., Ida Smith of Jackson and Myrtis Smith of Inglewood, Calif.; and other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Westhaven Funeral Home in Utica. Burial will follow at Strawbridge Church Cemetery. Visitation will be until 7 tonight with family hour from 6 until 7 p.m.
