PORT GIBSON — Zela Major Johnson died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 55.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Claiborne County and was a certified nurse’s assistant.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Major.

She is survived by her husband, Ervin Johnson of Port Gibson; her mother, Annie Thomas-Byrd of Port Gibson; three sons, Robert Major II of Port Gibson, Shelby Major of Vicksburg and Curtis Major of Gulfport; four daughters, Robin Major of Texarkana, Ark., and Starling Major, Karla Major and Kayla Major, all of Port Gibson; one brother, Otis Thomas Byrd of Port Gibson; three sisters, Genetta Thomas-Davis of Hermanville, Brenda Johnson of Port Gibson and Linda Little of Port Gibson; four grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Seventh-day Adventist Church, 205 Anthony St. in Port Gibson.
