Pep rally a jewel for community

The 14th annual Citywide Pep Rally on Aug. 4 at the Outlets at Vicksburg proved to be one of the most exciting and entertaining to date.

A record crowd gathered to watch this annual tradition and it could not have taken place without the support and generosity of the community. We had a few rain sprinkles early that morning and overcast skies, which helped keep the temperatures in the 80s.

A special thanks to Miss Vicksburg Jeralyn Stuart for emceeing the event, as well as Vicksburg Warren School District Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Swinford, Sheriff Martin Pace and Deputy Police Chief John Dolan for offering the students of VWSD, Porters Chapel and Vicksburg Catholic School encouragement and support for the new school year.

The incredible support and cooperation from the Vicksburg Police, Fire and Rescue departments and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office is much appreciated.

We would like to recognize Waste Management, the Vicksburg Y, Ranger’s Sound and Lighting, Warren Central High School, and all the vendors who provided refreshments, information and fun for the crowd.

We want to thank all who gave their time and talents, especially the cheerleading and dance team coaches, band directors, and ROTC leaders. Finally, we would like to commend all of the schools in Vicksburg for their continued support and the wonderful administrators, teachers and staff who educate and shape our children. They are our future.
