VAIDEN — Funeral services for Jinx Peterson Smith Jr. of Vaiden will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at Shongalo Presbyterian Church in Vaiden with burial following at Vaiden Cemetery. The Revs. Phillip McRae and Dean Stewart will officiate the services. Visitation will be tonight, Sept. 4, from 5 until 8 at Shongalo Presbyterian Church. A candlelight vigil was held on Monday, Sept. 3, at 8:30 p.m. at Shongalo Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Smith died in an automobile accident near Vaiden on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012. He was 21 years old.

Mr. Smith was a 2009 graduate of Carroll Academy in Carrollton and a student at Holmes Community College. He was a commercial diver and a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Episcopal, in Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jinx Peterson Smith.

Survivors include his parents, Bobby and Christy Grey Noah of Vaiden; stepmother, Lyn Luckett Smith of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; sisters, Holley Noah Mitchell (John David) of Eupora and Patricia Stafford Smith of Santa Rosa Beach; brothers, Christopher Stanton Smith of Vaiden and Tally Noah (Marci) of Jackson; his girlfriend, Jerri Fountain of West; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Christine Frisbee of Valley Park and Clifford Eugene Grey of Utica; paternal grandmother, Patricia Peterson Smith of Vicksburg; nieces, Malloy Mitchell and Ella Mitchell; nephews, Vincent Noah and Robert Noah; aunts, Bonnie Grey Morgan (Joel) and Lela Smith Flowers (Carl); uncles, Cliff Grey (Angela), J.O. Smith (Pam) and Patrick Raymond Smith (Kristi); and a host of cousins and friends.

Pallbearers will be Stanton Smith, Tally Noah, John David Mitchell, Mike Titz, Garrett Grey and Brett Grey.
