Barbara Jean Miller Anderson

Services for Barbara Jean “Bobbie Jean” Miller Anderson will be at noon Saturday at Zion Traveler’s M.B. Church with Dr. Michael Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Anderson died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at Covenant Health & Rehab of Vicksburg. She was 74.

She was a member of the Rock of Ages M.B. Church. She had worked as a nurse at Kuhn Memorial State Hospital and retired from the State Department of Human Services. She was homecoming queen for the Class of 1956 at Rosa A. Temple High School, where she was in the choir. She attended Hinds Junior College and Alcorn State University.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Major and Lucille G. Miller; her husband, Peter Anderson Jr.; and two sisters, Gloria “Penny” Humes and Amy Marie Dickerson.

She is survived by two sons, Dwain D. Miller of Houston, Texas, and Arno J. Miller of Vicksburg; two daughters, Denise D. Meeks of Houston and Tawonia C. Miller of Vicksburg; a brother Larry F. Hall of Houston; two sisters, Linda Coleman and Tonia Marshall, both of Houston; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including members of the Bass, Gibson, Boykins and Claiborne families of Vicksburg.
