A Vicksburg man faces drug charges after his arrest late Friday morning, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.
He said Michael Wade Jackson, 35, 520 Berryman Road Lot 60, is accused of possession of a Oxycontin and less than an ounce of methamphetamine. He was being held without bond in the Warren County Jail awaiting an appearance Monday in justice court.
He said Jackson was arrested about 11:45 a.m. Friday at the intersection of East Clay Street and Berryman Road by Deputy Weston Watts, who was responding to a call about a suspicious person leaving a wooded area near a hotel on East Clay, and saw Jackson walking on the street.
When Watts stopped Jackson, he saw a plastic bag containing a pill bottle with three Oxycontin tablets and the methamphetamine sticking out one of his pants pockets. A records check indicated Jackson was also wanted by the Mississippi Department of Corrections for probation violation involving an earlier drug conviction.
