PORT GIBSON — Douglas McArthur “Bud” Atlas died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at his home in Port Gibson. He was 67.

Mr. Atlas was preceded in death by his parents, Dalton Atlas Sr. and Agnes Atlas; and three brothers, Dalton Atlas Jr., Charlie Atlas and Matthew Atlas.

He is survived by three sons, Michael Atlas of Port Gibson, Marvin Atlas of Vicksburg and Cedric Walls of Prairie View, Texas; four daughters, Yvette Atlas of California, Adrien Lewis of Port Gibson, Sharon McDaniel of Vicksburg and Regina Herring of New York; three brothers, James Atlas of North Chicago, William Atlas of New Orleans and David Atlas of Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Harriet Patterson and Martha Atlas, both of Port Gibson; 16 grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Beechland M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Frank McGriggs officiating. Burial will be at the Atlas Family Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 today at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
