Vicksburg native Harris Dickson Shortle will be autographing and discussing his novels “Duplicate” and “The Duke of Zardano,” at the Warren County-Vicksburg Library, 700 Veto St., Tuesday from noon until 1:30 p.m.

The cum laude graduate of the Sewanee Military Academy, also is a member of the 1960 class of graduates from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. After a career spent traveling throughout the world, Shortle retired and began writing full time.

Shortle said writing was never a problem, but research took time. He lived in New Orleans making the research easier for “Duplicate,” a murder mystery set in the Big Easy. However, for “The Duke of Zardano,” a historical fantasy fiction piece, Shortle spent more than a decade preparing the novel set in 16th century Tuscany.
