James Andrew Hancock

BENTONIA — James Andrew Hancock died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, in Yazoo County. He was 56.

Mr. Hancock was born Sept. 18, 1956, in Vicksburg and had been a longtime resident of the Phoenix community. An avid outdoorsman, he served as caretaker at Bearcreek Farms and was a member of Center Ridge Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, A.J. Hancock.

Survivors include his mother, Hazel Jones Hancock of Bentonia; three sisters, Patricia Burt of Vicksburg and Glenda “Bit” Creech Tait and Linda Kennedy, both of Bentonia; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City with the Rev. Charlie Harris and Rusty Nixon officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery in Yazoo County. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 until 7 tonight.

Pallbearers will be Charles Creech, Joshua Busby, Donald Scoby, Jeremy Creech, T.J. Kennedy and Joseph Brooks.
