KATY, Texas — Nell Cummins died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at Hermann Memorial Hospital in Katy. She was 75 years old.
Nell was a longtime resident of Vicksburg and educator with the Vicksburg Warren School District, until retirement in 2010, at Warrenton and Jett elementary schools. Nell enjoyed traveling with friends Debbie, Judy, Olivia and Kay. She loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports. Reading was a hobby she truly enjoyed. Always known for her sense of humor and quick wit, Nell had friends everywhere she went and never met a stranger. She will be missed by numerous extended family members and Lady, her little dog, too.
She was preceded in death by her father, Tom Wilson Conger Sr.; mother, Lucille Holmes Conger; husband, George Clark Cummins Sr.; sister, Betty Rhoades; and a brother, Tom Wilson Conger Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Sherri Cummins Ford (Keith) of Katy; sons, George Clark Cummins Jr. (Carol) of Ridgeland and Tom Wilson Cummins (Amy) of Madison; grandchildren, Cynthia Ford, Brian Ford, Jordan Cummins, Madisyn Cummins, Megan Cummins and Justice Cummins.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Ford, Billy Boell, Ford Emery, Carlos Dawson, Frank Dawson and Brad Hasty.
