Quarterback Chandler Rogers threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score Thursday night to lead Copiah-Lincoln past Hinds Community College, 21-6.

It was the second straight loss for Hinds (2-2, 0-2 MACJC South), which is ranked 16th in this week’s National Junior College Athletic Association poll.

The Eagles had a season-low 317 yards of total offense. Their only scoring came on field goals of 24 and 21 yards by Tyler Poe. Quarterback Christopher Nelson threw an interception that was returned 67 yards for a touchdown by Co-Lin’s Jeremy Davis in the fourth quarter. That touchdown put Co- Lin (3-1, 2-0) ahead 21-6 and iced the game.

The turnovers and red zone misfires spoiled a strong performance by Hinds’ defense. The unit had seven sacks — three of them by Risean Broussard — and allowed only 308 yards. Co-Lin had minus-22 rushing yards.

Running back Jabari Baker had his fourth straight 100-yard game for Hinds, with 137 yards on 23 carries. Quadarius Mireles caught six passes for 115 yards, and Nelson was 14-for-29 passing for 186 yards and two interceptions.

Hinds will return to action Sept. 29, when it travels to Decatur to face East Central Community College at 2:30 p.m.
