Organizers of Vicksburg’s first international film festival said it will give residents the chance to span the globe this weekend.

Strandfest 2012 will be at the Strand Theatre, 717 Clay St., and feature a variety of award-winning independent and foreign films.

Daniel Boone, owner of the Highway 61 Coffeehouse and co-director of the Strand Theatre, is promoting the festival and said it will kick off a fall season of alternative cinema.
