The Vicksburg Art Association’s opening show and membership drive Sunday featured an exhibit of seven tablescapes in addition to 20 pieces of art by New Orlean’s artist Kathy Gergo.

The event was co-sponsored by the Southern Cultural Heritage Center and was part of the yearlong Hobbs Freeman Art and Nature Celebration. Freeman, who was a local artist, sculptor, builder, jewelry-maker, cook, gardener and an active member of the VAA, was known to host dinner parties using nature for his tablescapes.

The display will be on exhibit from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Firehouse Gallery, 1204 Main St.
