Kenneth Elmer Callen

TALLULAH — Kenneth Elmer Callen, a resident of Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2012. He was 95.

Born in Greenville, he was a graduate of Carr Central High School. He lived most of his adult life in Lake Jackson, Texas, and was retired from Dow Chemical. He was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mary Edna; daughter, Dorothy Belle Laird; and four brothers, Edward, Paul, William and Raymond.

He is survived by nephews, George Callen and wife Jean, and John Callen; great-nephew, Chris “Coot” Callen and wife Sylvia; great-niece, Tracey Penley and husband Rusty; and one great-great-niece, Kristen Evans, all of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are being handled by Palms Oak Park Funeral Homes in Angleton, Texas. Burial will be at Restwood Memorial Park in Lake Jackson.

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family requests donations in Kenneth’s name for research to Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Houston Chapter, 6161 Savoy Drive, Suite 240, Houston, TX, 77036.
