City and County officials will gather at 5 p.m. Monday at the Old Court House Museum to kick off domestic violence awareness month.

The speaker for the event will be Special Assistant Attorney General Heather P. Wagner who is the director of the state’s domestic violence division.

Recently, police have seen in increase in domestic violence following couples arguing over cellphones and Facebook posts, said Sgt. Beverly Prentiss of the Vicksburg police’s domestic violence unit.
