A firmer set of rules for garbage haulers in non-municipal Warren County this fiscal year includes making packer trucks readily identifiable and turning over customer lists on time.
The rules accompanied the county’s twice-yearly review of permits to companies and individuals who pick up garbage from homes and businesses in the county.
“We want a semiannual customer list,” said Katie Strong, county environmental officer, who addressed the Board of Supervisors Monday on the changes. “It helps us keep up with our customers and our numbers. We also want all vehicles marked with letters on both driver and passenger doors. The letters cannot be smaller than 6 inches. We have some unmarked trucks, and we need to know who they are. It’ll help the customers when they move into a subdivision, they’ll know who’s out there.”
