Miles movie wins top awards

A Vicksburg native and former employee of The Vicksburg Post, Toni Miles was team leader, executive producer and lead actress in the Mississippi Synergy’s short film “Before the Curtain Rises,” which won second place in the state’s first 48-hour film competition and won first place for best costumes.

Comprising a cast and crew from Mississippi, the team had 48 hours to write, shoot and edit a film for the competition.

Miles is a film student at the University of Southern Mississippi in Long Beach and was a broadcast journalist for 12 years. Miles also has an acting role in the movie “Happy Log” that began filming in Mississippi Wednesday.
