Post Plaza is easy to find. It’s easily accessible from Interstate 20, Halls Ferry Road and Indiana Avenue. The large green bins in the western corner of the parking lot are easy to spot.

It’s time to recycle.

Previously anchored at the Outlets at Vicksburg, the bins were moved to Post Plaza by MIDD-West Industries, a work center that offers employment training for disabled adults, including operating the receptacles.

The bins are suitable for newspaper inserts, computer paper, white office paper, magazines and colored paper. Another bin will hold plastic bottles, such as those used for soft drinks, milk, water and detergent stamped with a No. 1 or No. 2. Those numbers can be found on the bottoms of the cartons.

This effort is a win-win for the community.

Recycling efforts must be beefed-up in Vicksburg. The days of just tossing things into the garbage dump need to end. Recycling is the right thing to do.

It also provides MIDD-West clients with jobs.

“The disabled participants win big time because they have a job they would not ordinarily have,” said Kearney Waites, executive director of MIDD-West. “That job then serves as a springboard to bigger and better things for many of them, and the community wins because they have a free recycling program.”

No matter the bins’ locations, the prudent thing to do as a community is embrace recycling. Having the receptacles at an easily accessible location and benefiting such a worthy endeavor as MIDD-West is a bonus.
