Rolling Fork woman gets eight years for fatal stabbing

A Rolling Fork woman was sentenced to eight years in prison for fatally stabbing her boyfriend.
Patricia Montgomery, 29, 165 Day St., pleaded guilty this week to fatally stabbing Ledell Smith, 29, of Carey Oct. 16, 2011, according to court records.
Smith died of a stab wound to the heart, according to an autopsy report.
At the time of the stabbing, Montgomery was under indictment for previously stabbing him, according to court records.
In Warren County Circuit Court for the week ending Friday:
• Matthew Benway, 42, 7470 Warriors Trial, pleaded guilty to two counts of credit card fraud and was sentenced by Circuit Judge M. James Chaney to Ninth Circuit Drug Court for a period not to exceed five years, a $1,000 fine, $543.93 restitution and $1,309.50 in costs. Benway was indicted in January.
• Robert Bolton, 29, 404 Wood St., Tallulah, pleaded guilty to possession of precursor chemicals and was sentenced by Chaney to five years’ probation, a $5,000 fine and $984.50 in costs. Bolton was indicted in July 2010.
• Brian Coleman, 39, 112 Meadowvale Drive, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and was sentenced by Chaney to three years in prison followed by five years’ probation and $384.50 in costs. Coleman was indicted in January.
• Marques Demby, 26, 1123 Casey Road, Utica, pleaded guilty to sale of a controlled substance and was sentenced by Chaney to two years’ house arrest, a $1,000 fine and $884.50 in costs. Demby was indicted in October 2011.
• Galbrial Floyd, 31, 141 Morning View Drive, pleaded guilty to domestic aggravated assault and was sentenced by Chaney to one year and one day in prison follow by five years’ probation, a $1,000 fine and $384.50 in costs. Floyd was indicted in October 2011.
• Robert Hudson, 23, 44 Readhawk Road, was found guilty of violating probation from a 2010 conviction for burglary and sentenced by Chaney to 10 years’ further probation. Hudson was arrested Nov. 17, 2009.
• Nathan David Kirkley, 23, 105 Churchill Drive, pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced by Chaney to seven years in prison followed by five years’ probation, a $1,500 fine and $384.50 in costs. Kirkley was indicted in Oct. 2011.
• Willie Lyons, 18, 1210 Jackson St., pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced by Chaney to three years in prison followed by five years’ probation, a $1,000 fine and $384.50 in costs.
• Marquis McCroy, 30, 902 Blossom Lane, pleaded guilt to sale of a controlled substance and was sentenced by Chaney to 10 years in prison, a $1,000 fine and $684.50 in costs. McCroy was indicted in Oct. 2011.
• Larry Parsons, 35, 2909 Arcadia Place, pleaded guilty to sale of a controlled substance and was sentenced by Chaney to four years in prison followed by five years’ probation, a $5,000 fine and $684.50 in costs. Parsons was indicted in July.
• Michael Scott, 29, 1920 Pearl St., pleaded guilty to two counts of credit card fraud and was sentenced by Chaney to 91 days of time served followed by an undetermined amount of time in the Hinds County Restitution Center and five years’ probation, a $2,000 fine, $5,263.74 in restitution and $384.50 in costs. Scott was indicted in May.
• Joe Kevin Thornton, 36, 703 James St., Apt. 8, Tallulah, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and was sentenced by Chaney to five years in prisons followed by five years’ probation, a $3,000 fine and $684.50 in costs.
• Lamont Turner, 37, 104 Quinola St., pleaded guilty to sale of cocaine and was sentenced to one year of time served followed by five years’ probation, a $2,000 fine and $859.50 in costs. Turner was indicted in July 2010.
• Algernon Williams, 27, 308 Pleasant Valley Drive, pleaded guilty to sale of cocaine and was sentenced by Chaney to three years in prison followed by five years’ probation a $5,000 fine and $684.50 in costs. Williams was indicted in July.
In Sharkey County Circuit Court for the week ending Friday:
• Freddrick Stamps, 36, 103 Patton Road, Anguilla, pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling and was sentenced by Chaney to 5 years in prison followed by three years probation. Stamps was indited in January.
