Aulton David Ouzts Sr.

Aulton David Ouzts Sr. died Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson. He was 76.

Born April 21, 1936, in Shreveport, La., Mr. Ouzts graduated from Lake Providence High School before serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and in a long career as an engineer for Illinois Central Railroad before his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry Ernest and Marguerite Ouzts of Transylvania; and one sister, Peggy Nan Ouzts Francis of Montgomery, Texas.

Mr. Ouzts is survived by his wife, Carolyn Patrick Ouzts; three sons, David Ouzts Jr. of Atlanta, Texas, and Michael Keith Ouzts and Robert Mitchell Ouzts, both of Vicksburg; one sister, Margaret Overby of Lake Providence; one brother, Henry Ouzts Jr. of Roans Prairie, Texas; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery with the Revs. Bryan Ables of Grace Baptist Church and Jeff Eagles of Transylvania Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be from 9 until 11 a.m. Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be K-9 Deputy Brad Redditt, Lt. Jamie Lipscomb, John Carlisle, Billy Glen Downey, Ray Roberts and Donald Oakes.

Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Grace Baptist Church.
