A Warren Central High School junior who got her driver’s license last week was killed Thursday morning in a single-car wreck on Warriors Trail.

Acasia Rochelle Lee, 16, 96 Zanders Road, died of head trauma Thursday morning following the wreck about a mile from her home, Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey said.

Acasia turned 16 in April and received her license last week, said her father, Robert Lee of Vicksburg.

“She had just gotten her license where she could drive on her own,” he said. “She was excited about having her license.”

Acasia was westbound on Warriors Trail when she lost control of her 2001 Oldsmobile Alero and veered into a 15-foot ravine before striking several trees, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said. The wreck occurred about a mile east of Warriors Trail and Newmans Road.

“It appears that the driver was not restrained at the time of the accident,” Pace said.

The wreckage was obscured by brush and limbs and wasn’t discovered for several hours.

“At 10:35 a.m., we received a call that a resident walking down Warriors Trail had found the car,” Pace said.

The wreck remained under investigation by traffic Investigator Bill Jones and Detective Sam Winchester, Pace said.

Lee said he and Acasia’s mother, Casandra Reed and her husband, Donald Reed, were devastated.

“You wake up every day and you don’t know what’s going to hit you in the face,” Lee said.

Acasia was a member of the Warren Central student council and a praise dancer at St. Paul Church in Bovina, said family friend Shonna Morton.

“She was very loved and highly respected in the community, and she will be dearly missed,” Morton said. “She touched a lot of people’s hearts.”

Acasia had one brother, Staff Sgt. Jeffery Watkins, who is stationed in South Carolina, Morton said.

Funeral services are pending with Lakeview Funeral Home, family members said.

The fatal wreck was the eighth in Warren County outside the city this year, in addition to two reported inside the city limits.
